Intention collection · Healing and relief

Healing frequencies. See them and hear them.

The Healing and relief collection brings together six frequencies the tradition links to relief, regeneration and repair: 174, 285, 528, 639 and 741 Hz from the Solfeggio series and 136.1 Hz, Om. Each one plays with its golden pair, the same tone multiplied by φ in the other ear.

01The sixHealing and relief

Six frequencies, six figures.

  • Relief · 174 Hz · φ²: the figure Cymatica draws in Mandala mode with 174 Hz and its golden pair at 455.5 Hz
    Relief · 174 Hz · φ²174 Hz + 455.5 Hz (× φ²)

174 Hz, relief and safety in the tradition, with its pair at φ² and the Seed of Life. For heavy days.

  • Regenerate · 285 Hz · φ²: the figure Cymatica draws in Mandala mode with 285 Hz and its golden pair at 746.1 Hz
    Regenerate · 285 Hz · φ²285 Hz + 746.1 Hz (× φ²)

285 Hz, regeneration, with its pair at φ² and the Fruit of Life. To give yourself some time to rest and recharge.

  • Repair · 528 Hz · φ³: the figure Cymatica draws in Mandala mode with 528 Hz and its golden pair at 2236.6 Hz
    Repair · 528 Hz · φ³528 Hz + 2236.6 Hz (× φ³)

528 Hz, repair and love, with its pair at φ³ and the Flower of Life. The best known in the tradition.

  • Heart that heals · 639 Hz · φ: the figure Cymatica draws in Mandala mode with 639 Hz and its golden pair at 1033.9 Hz
    Heart that heals · 639 Hz · φ639 Hz + 1033.9 Hz (× φ)

639 Hz, the heart, with its pair at φ and the Vesica piscis. For when there's something to forgive.

  • Cleanse · 741 Hz · φ: the figure Cymatica draws in Mandala mode with 741 Hz and its golden pair at 1199.0 Hz
    Cleanse · 741 Hz · φ741 Hz + 1199.0 Hz (× φ)

741 Hz, cleansing in the tradition, with its pair at φ and the Golden spiral. To start the day from scratch.

  • Om · 136.1 Hz · φ³: the figure Cymatica draws in Mandala mode with 136.1 Hz and its golden pair at 576.5 Hz
    Om · 136.1 Hz · φ³136.1 Hz + 576.5 Hz (× φ³)

136.1 Hz, Om, the tone Hans Cousto worked out from the Earth year, with its pair at φ³ and the Torus. The lowest in the collection.

Cymatica renders made with the app's own renderer: Mandala mode, Cosmos palette. In the app they move and sound.

02The golden pair174 Hz + 455.5 Hz

A low tone, a high tone and φ between them.

Every preset in the collection joins two tones. The low one is a frequency from the tradition and plays in your left ear; the high one is that same frequency multiplied by φ (1.618…), the golden ratio, one or more times, and plays in your right ear.

In Relief · 174 Hz · φ²: 174 Hz on the left and 174 × φ² = 455.5 Hz on the right.

On top of that, the app adds the golden ladder: the tones 174 × φⁿ above and below, between 30 and 4096 Hz, alternating ears and each step a little quieter, plus two air tones above at −12 dB. That's what the table shows.

Why it sounds like a spiral: φ is irrational, so no tone on the ladder lands on a harmonic of another and the waves never fully line up again. You don't hear a chord that settles, you hear a beat that turns slowly. XY mode shows the same thing: with φ, the Lissajous curve never closes.

03Listen174 Hz + 455.5 Hz

Relief · 174 Hz · φ², the pair and its ladder.

The sine waves of Relief · 174 Hz · φ² generated in your browser on the spot: 174 Hz on the left, 455.5 Hz on the right and the golden ladder around them. It fades in from silence and rises slowly. With headphones, each ear gets its own tone, as in the app.

Turn your volume down before you start. With headphones, lower still. If it bothers you at any point, stop.

04The intentionHealing and relief

Healing and relief.

In the Solfeggio tradition, healing is a path, not a result: 174 Hz is relief and safety, 285 Hz regeneration, 528 Hz repair and love, 639 Hz the heart and 741 Hz cleansing. They're the intentions people sit with.

136.1 Hz comes from another tradition. Swiss mathematician Hans Cousto worked it out in 1978 from the Earth's orbit around the Sun, raising that frequency 32 octaves into the audible range, and the sound tradition calls it the Om tone.

Cymatica is a listening and attention practice: it isn't a health product and doesn't replace care from a professional. What it offers is time to look after yourself, with a sound and a shape to come back to.

05How people use itHealing and relief

Why people pick it.

  • ·

Meditating. Ten minutes with Repair · 528 Hz · φ³ and coherent 5-5 breathing, with an intention of care toward yourself.

  • ·

Accompanying. Some people play it in the background, at low volume, alongside other self-care practices: yoga, stretching, a bath.

  • ·

Chanting. People who chant mantras sing Om over Om · 136.1 Hz · φ³: the tone gives them a reference.

06Suggested practiceHealing and relief

How to practice with the collection.

Coherent 5-5 breathing, ten minutes, with Relief or Repair. Sit or lie down, place a hand where you feel tension and bring your attention there while it plays.

When you finish, stay in silence for a minute before getting up.

07QuestionsHealing and relief

What people ask about this collection.

Q1What are healing frequencies?

It's the name the tradition gives to a group of tones (mainly the nine Solfeggio tones, 432 Hz and Om, 136.1 Hz) that people meditate with and use to look after themselves. Healing, here, is a path of attention and care, not a guaranteed result. Cymatica is a listening and attention practice: it isn't a health product and doesn't replace care from a professional.

Q2Do frequencies heal the body?

It's what people search for most, and it deserves an honest answer. The tradition links each tone to an intention (relief, regeneration, repair), but no solid study has shown that a tone changes the body on its own, and Cymatica doesn't promise it. What it does offer is a calm moment of attention to your body, with a sound and a shape that help you stay with it. If you have a health condition, talk to the person who looks after it.

Q3What is the golden pair?

A second tone: the first one multiplied by φ (1.618…) one or more times. In Relief, 174 Hz plays in your left ear and 455.5 Hz in your right. With φ the two waves never fully line up again, which is why the sound turns slowly instead of standing still.

Q4What is the 136.1 Hz Om?

It's the tone Swiss mathematician Hans Cousto worked out in 1978 from the Earth year: the frequency of one orbit of the Earth around the Sun, raised 32 octaves, gives 136.1 Hz. The sound tradition calls it the Om tone and uses it as a reference for chanting mantras.

Q5Headphones or speakers?

Headphones, if you can: each ear gets its own tone, the low one on the left and the high one on the right, as it's meant to be. On speakers the tones blend in the air and still sound good, just without that separation. Always at low volume, below a conversation.

Q6Is it free?

All six are Pro. In the free version you can listen to a 30 second preview of each one (eight previews a day), and on this page the first one is ready to play, also for 30 seconds.
