Solfeggio frequency · Forgiveness
174 Hz. See it and hear it.
174 Hz is the lowest of the nine Solfeggio frequencies: the tradition calls it Forgiveness and places it at the base, below the seven energy centers. Musically it's almost exactly F3: the in-tune note sits at 174.61 Hz and 174 Hz is 6 cents flat.

The shape of 174 Hz.
In Chladni, the app draws it with mode (9, 4) of the square plate: curved lines crossing over a diagonal. In Mandala, the image on this card, it's a fine web of spokes and concentric rings around a bright center. It's the lowest of the nine and the base of the Path.
It's a Cymatica render, not an illustration: the same figure comes back every time you play 174 Hz.
Forgiveness, in the Solfeggio tradition.
In the Solfeggio tradition, 174 Hz is linked to forgiveness and safety: the base the others rest on. It isn't one of the six syllables of the hymn Ut queant laxis, where the core of the series comes from; Leonard Horowitz added it later, along with 285 and 963, to close the map at the bottom and the top.
The tradition also looks at the numbers. From 174 to 285 is 111 Hz, the same step that repeats almost all the way up the series. And 1 + 7 + 4 = 12, and 1 + 2 = 3: all nine reduce to 3, 6 or 9.
In Cymatica it's level 1 of the Path, where you start. Some people come back to it at the end of a heavy day, to let it go before any other intention.

174 Hz, pure tone.
A 174 Hz sine wave generated in your browser on the spot: no recording, no compression, no music on top. It fades in from silence and rises slowly.
Turn your volume down before you start. With headphones, lower still. If it bothers you at any point, stop.
Why people pick it.
- ·
Meditating. It's the most common way in: five minutes of coherent 5-5 breathing and a single intention, letting go of the day.
- ·
Studying. Some people leave it very low at the start of a long task. It's so low it barely registers and doesn't compete with reading.
- ·
Resting. It's one of the most chosen for the evening: a while at low volume before lights out, not the whole night.
How to practice with 174 Hz.
Suggested practice
Coherent 5-5 breathing (inhale 5 s, exhale 5 s). Water mode, Sand palette, Seed of Life layer. 5 minutes. It's level 1 of The Path. Intention: let go of the weight of the day.
What people ask about 174 Hz.
Q1What is 174 Hz used for?
In the Solfeggio tradition, 174 Hz is the frequency of forgiveness and safety, the base of the series. People use it as an anchor: to begin a meditation, to let go of the day or to rest for a while. What you see on this page is physics: the exact shape that tone draws, the same every time. Cymatica is a listening and attention practice: it isn't a health product and doesn't replace care from a professional.
Q2Pure tone or music?
What plays here is the pure tone: a single 174 Hz sine wave, no harmonics, no beat, no lyrics. It's the simplest thing you can listen to and the exact reference for the frequency. Many "174 Hz" tracks out there are music with that tone mixed underneath, or whole songs retuned: they're easier company for an hour, but they're no longer just 174 Hz. To practice while watching the shape, the pure tone is what draws it.
Q3Headphones or speakers?
Either works. Headphones shut the room out; speakers fill it. What matters is volume: low, below a conversation. Small phone speakers don't reproduce low frequencies well, so the lowest tones in the series (174 and 285 Hz) come through better on headphones. The pure tone isn't binaural: it sounds the same in both ears. The app's Binaural mode does need headphones.
Q4174 Hz or 432 Hz?
They don't compete: they're two different things. 432 Hz is a tuning, where you put the A and, with it, every other note; 174 Hz is one specific tone. With A = 440, 174 Hz sits near F3, 6 cents flat; with A = 432, near {{NOTA_432}}, {{DESVIO_432}}. The app has both tunings: listen to both and keep the one your body asks for.
Q5Is 174 Hz good for sleep?
Some people listen to it for a few minutes before bed, very softly, as part of a wind-down routine. A short while with attention works better than a tone playing all night: after hours it stops keeping you company and turns into noise. If sleep is a regular struggle, talk to a professional.
