Q1Does this heal anything?
Cymatica is a tool for looking at sound and for stopping for a while. What it does is physics: every frequency draws a different shape, exact and repeatable, and sitting for ten minutes watching it while you breathe is a practice with an intention, like any other. The names of the frequencies (Forgiveness, Heart, Crown) come from the Solfeggio tradition and in Cymatica that is what they are: a name for an intention. It is not a medical device and it does not replace a professional; if you have a health condition, talk it over with whoever treats you.
Q2Do I need headphones?
To explore, no. For Binaural, yes: the effect only exists when each ear gets a different tone. On speakers there is no binaural, only two mixed tones. For meditating, headphones help you shut the world out, but they are not required.
Q3What volume should I use?
Low. Pure tones tire you faster than music because all the energy sits on a single frequency. Start at the minimum and go up until you hear it clearly, no further. Binaural starts at -24 dB by default. If anything feels uncomfortable, turn it down or stop.
Q4Why is there no sound on my iPhone?
Check the silent switch on the side: on iOS, with silent mode on, Safari will not play audio from the web. Turn it off and press Listen again. If you are using an in-app browser inside Instagram or TikTok, open it in Safari.
Q5Which browsers does it work in? Can I record video?
Cymatica works in current Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari with WebGL2. MP4 (H.264) video recording works in desktop Chrome and Edge; in Firefox and Safari it records in WebM, or use the PNG capture. On mobile, the PNG capture and the share button work everywhere; video recording depends on the browser. Without WebGL2 you get a sample video and a notice, never a black screen.
Q6I am photosensitive. Is it safe for me?
Cymatica shows moving patterns and contrasts that change with the sound. If you are photosensitive or have a history of reactions to flashing lights, turn on "Reduce motion" in your system: Cymatica freezes time and only redraws when you change a parameter. Binaural mode never makes the visual flash in time with the pulse. If in doubt, do not use it.
Q7What happens if I cancel?
You cancel from your account, in the payment portal, in two clicks. You stay Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for. After that you go back to the free version: your presets in the cloud are kept for 90 days in case you come back, and your progress on The Path stays in your browser.
Q8How does the 14-day guarantee work?
If Cymatica is not what you expected in the first 14 days after you pay, write to me and I refund the full amount, no questions. It applies to Pro, to Founders and to the Ableton device. Even if you already downloaded the device.
Q9What is Founders?
Fifty places at €99 for life, open for 60 days from launch. It includes all of Pro and the Ableton device. "For life" means for as long as Cymatica exists as a service, with no fees and no increases. Founders is how I start, with 50 people who back this before it is all finished. If Founders is closed, Pro monthly and Pro yearly are still there.
Q10What is Cymatica for Ableton and what does it need?
It is a Max for Live device (an audio effect) that shows the cymatics of any Ableton Live track in real time, with the same 4 modes and the same 16 layers. It needs Ableton Live 12 Suite (which includes Max 9) and the glcore graphics engine, which is the default in Live 12. If you are on the legacy engine (gl2), switch it in Max → Options → Preferences → Jitter → Graphics Engine = glcore. You download it from your account, up to 10 times a day, and it is yours even if you cancel Pro later.
Q11Can I use the videos I export on my channels or in client work?
Yes. What you export with Cymatica is yours, for personal and commercial use. In the free version it carries the "CYMATICA" mark in a corner and you can add your own signature. In Pro, no mark.
Q12What data do you keep about me?
With no account: nothing that identifies you. A signed technical cookie counts your previews for the day and expires in 48 hours. The analytics (PostHog, servers in the EU) run without cookies. With an account: your email, your plan and, if you are Pro, your presets and your progress. Payments are processed by Stripe; Cymatica never sees your card. Q13Can I use any frequency I want in the free version?
Yes. The open slider runs from 60 to 2600 Hz and has no padlock. Pro presets are named shortcuts with a saved setup; you can play the frequency by hand.
