Preset group · Nature

Nature. The numbers of the sunflower and the nautilus.

Sacred geometry finds the same order in the sunflower, the pine cone and the galaxy: spirals, Fibonacci numbers, the golden ratio. Sunflower seeds are placed turning 137.5°, the golden angle; a pine cone's scales form 8 spirals one way and 13 the other.

This group takes six of nature's forms and turns them into sound. To remember, as the tradition says, that the order is already there.

01How it's madeNature

The formulas and the figures in the code.

Each preset uses a number from that form. The Sunflower plays at 233 Hz with its golden pair (× φ). The Nautilus, at 377 Hz. The Pine cone, at 144 Hz with its 13:8 ratio (the high tone at 234 Hz). The Galaxy, at 89 Hz with its golden pair. The Succulent, at 610 Hz. 233, 377, 144, 89 and 610 are Fibonacci numbers.

The Snowflake plays at 1296 Hz, which is 6 × 6 × 6 × 6: the six of its six arms.

One line per preset.

  • Sunflower · golden angle

    233 Hz + 377 Hz

Sunflower seeds, turning 137.5° one after another, at 233 Hz with its golden pair.

Physical figure (6, 2) · Symbolic layer: Sunflower (phyllotaxis)

  • Nautilus · golden spiral

    377 Hz

The nautilus shell at 377 Hz, with the golden spiral the tradition looks at.

  • Pine cone · 8:13

    144 Hz + 234 Hz

    The pine cone's 8 and 13 spirals, as a 13:8 ratio over 144 Hz.

Physical figure (4, 2) · Symbolic layer: Sunflower (phyllotaxis)

  • Snowflake · 6

    1296 Hz

The flake's six arms, 6⁴ = 1296 Hz, with no layer.

    Physical figure (14, 6) · No layer

  • Spiral galaxy

    89 Hz + 144 Hz

The galaxy's arms, at 89 Hz with its golden pair.

Physical figure (4, 0) · Symbolic layer: Galaxy · Macrocosm

  • Succulent · 5

    610 Hz

The succulent's spirals, at 610 Hz.

    Physical figure (10, 4) + (10, 2) · Symbolic layer: Sunflower (phyllotaxis)

Tab. 01 · Plate figure calculated by the app's core (cym.core.js) for each frequency: a square plate driven at the center, f = 5.5·(n² + m²) Hz. Two modes = the plate answers with both.

03What you seeNature

The physical figure and the symbolic layer.

In Chladni, the Sunflower draws mode (6, 2) and the Snowflake mode (14, 6). The square plate doesn't draw a snowflake: the flake has six arms because of the structure of ice, and the plate has the symmetry of the square.

The layers are symbolic: the Sunflower (phyllotaxis) on the sunflower, the pine cone and the succulent, the Golden Spiral on the nautilus, the Galaxy on the galaxy. With the ratio at φ, the Sunflower rearranges its seeds by the golden angle. The Snowflake has no layer.

04QuestionsNature

What people ask about this group.

Q1Where is the golden ratio in nature?

In phyllotaxis: sunflower seeds are placed turning 137.5°, the golden angle, and the spirals of pine cones and sunflowers usually come in consecutive Fibonacci numbers, like 8 and 13.

Q2Is the nautilus shell a golden spiral?

It's a logarithmic spiral, but not a golden one: measured on real shells, its ratio falls between 1.24 and 1.43, not 1.618. The preset uses the golden spiral because it's the one the tradition looks at.

Q3Why does the snowflake play at 1296 Hz?

Because 1296 is 6 × 6 × 6 × 6, the six of its six arms. It's a symbolic choice: the square plate doesn't draw a snowflake.
