Solfeggio frequency · Sacral

417 Hz. See it and hear it.

417 Hz is the fourth of the nine Solfeggio frequencies: the tradition links it to the sacral center, the second one, and to undoing what got stuck. Musically it's almost G#4: the in-tune note sits at 415.30 Hz and 417 Hz is 7 cents sharp.

The shape of 417 Hz.

Just 21 Hz above 396, the plate moves to another pair of modes, (13, 1) and (13, 2): the curves rearrange and the diagonal shifts. In Mandala, the rings stretch vertically. Play 396 and 417 back to back and you see the whole jump. It's the best example of how a small difference in Hz changes the shape completely.

It's a Cymatica render, not an illustration: the same figure comes back every time you play 417 Hz.

02The traditionSacral

Sacral, in the Solfeggio tradition.

In the Solfeggio tradition, 417 Hz is the sacral center, the second one: change, movement and creativity. The tradition ties it to undoing what got stuck.

It's one of the six Joseph Puleo gathered in the mid-1970s. The modern tradition links it to the syllable Re in the hymn Ut queant laxis: "resonare fibris", let it resonate in the fibers.

Between 396 and 417 there are only 21 Hz: it's the one small step in a series that almost always climbs by 111. And 4 + 1 + 7 = 12, and 1 + 2 = 3. In Cymatica it's level 4 of the Path.

417 Hz, pure tone.

A 417 Hz sine wave generated in your browser on the spot: no recording, no compression, no music on top. It fades in from silence and rises slowly.

Turn your volume down before you start. With headphones, lower still. If it bothers you at any point, stop.

05How people use itSacral

Why people pick it.

  • ·

Meditating. When you're closing a chapter: five minutes with the intention of letting go of what's already over.

  • ·

Studying. Some people put it on when a piece of work gets stuck, as a break to look at it with fresh eyes.

  • ·

Resting. After a big change (a move, an ending), a while with it at low volume to let it settle.

How to practice with 417 Hz.

Suggested practice

Coherent 5-5 breathing. Water mode, Phosphor palette, Golden Spiral layer (free). 5 minutes. Push Detail up: at this frequency the relief of the water shows a lot. Intention: let go of what's already over.

07Questions417 Hz

What people ask about 417 Hz.

Q1What is 417 Hz used for?

In the Solfeggio tradition, 417 Hz is the frequency of the sacral center: change and undoing what got stuck. People use it to meditate when closing a chapter, to get unstuck on a task or to rest after a change. What you see on this page is physics: the shape that tone draws, the same every time. Cymatica is a listening and attention practice: it isn't a health product and doesn't replace care from a professional.

Q2Pure tone or music?

What plays here is the pure tone: a single 417 Hz sine wave, no harmonics, no beat, no lyrics. It's the simplest thing you can listen to and the exact reference for the frequency. Many "417 Hz" tracks out there are music with that tone mixed underneath, or whole songs retuned: they're easier company for an hour, but they're no longer just 417 Hz. To practice while watching the shape, the pure tone is what draws it.

Q3Headphones or speakers?

Either works. Headphones shut the room out; speakers fill it. What matters is volume: low, below a conversation. Small phone speakers don't reproduce low frequencies well, so the lowest tones in the series (174 and 285 Hz) come through better on headphones. The pure tone isn't binaural: it sounds the same in both ears. The app's Binaural mode does need headphones.

Q4417 Hz or 432 Hz?

They don't compete: they're two different things. 432 Hz is a tuning, where you put the A and, with it, every other note; 417 Hz is one specific tone. With A = 440, 417 Hz sits near G#4, 7 cents sharp; with A = 432, near {{NOTA_432}}, {{DESVIO_432}}. The app has both tunings: listen to both and keep the one your body asks for.

Q5Why does 417 Hz look so different from 396 Hz when they're so close?

Because 21 Hz, one semitone, is enough for the plate to switch pairs of modes: 396 Hz falls between (13, 0) and (11, 7), and 417 Hz between (13, 1) and (13, 2). Play the two back to back in the app and you'll see the whole jump: it's the best example of a small change in hertz changing the shape completely.
